How to get scouted as a performer in the UK

Scouts, agents and bookers are busy. They find performers they can judge quickly: a clear profile, a short strong clip, and an easy way to get in touch. Here's how to make that you.

1. Know what you're offering

Be specific. "Singer" is hard to search for; "soul and Motown singer for weddings and events" is easy. Pick your main discipline and the kind of work you want — gigs, bookings, representation, session work or collaborations.

2. Build a profile people can find

  • Use the name you perform under and a clear, recent photo.
  • Write a headline that says what you do in a few words.
  • Add your town or city — many bookers search close to home.
  • Keep your bio short: experience, style and what you're looking for.

3. Show, don't tell

Your best 30–90 seconds matters more than a long video. Open with your strongest moment, make sure the sound is clear, and film in good light. Upload a few pieces that show your range, and put each one in the right category so it appears where scouts browse.

4. Keep it fresh

New uploads appear in the latest feed. Adding something every few weeks keeps your profile active and gives people a reason to come back.

5. Share your profile

Put your profile link in your social bios and share new uploads with friends, fans and venues. The more people who see your work, the more likely the right person does.

6. Stay safe

  • Never pay upfront fees to be "represented" or "signed".
  • Check a scout's details and look for the Verified badge — it's a check, not a guarantee.
  • Meet in public places and tell someone where you're going.
  • Keep early conversations on the platform.
